Flow – the final stage

_______________

‘Flow’ is an art project being carried out between 2020 and 2024 for an apartment complex near Sobieszewo Island.

As the investor writes: “The elegance and style of the Sol Marina Resort is emphasised by the splendid sculptures designed and made especially for this place by Danka Jarzyńska (…). With her work, Jarzyńska emphasised the simplicity and rhythmic nature of Sol Marina’s architecture. As she herself states, it was the immediate vicinity of water and land that inspired the realised compositions. Flow is a strongly symbolic series”. More information about the investment here.

Dozens of sculptures and installations have been created, characterised by attention to detail and the high quality of the materials used. Above all, they are sophisticated black oak, polished bronze and hand-crafted granite, emphasising the prestige of the site. They tell of the meeting of the elements of water, air and earth, migrating birds, schools of fish. They announce the cruises that the yachts moored at Sol Marina will embark on.

„Akcent” 4/2023 featuring Jarzyńska

_______________

The latest issue of the literary magazine “Akcent” contains an extensive article by Professor Lechosław Lameński on the work of Danka Jarzyńska (excerpt available online). It says: “Brancusi’s sculptures are perfectly ascetic, focused solely on pure form, behind which nothing is hidden, while Jarzyńska is a restless person who, in addition to the perfected form, is also interested in an elusive spiritual element. Almost every one of her sculptures (…) hides some kind of secret, the sense and meaning of which the viewer should try to discover for himself”.

The issue contains many reproductions of Jarzyńska’s works, often accompanied by poetic pieces.

Impulse solo show in Orońsko

_______________

Danka Jarzyńska’s solo show “Impulse” has opened at the “Chapel” gallery at the Centre for Polish Sculpture in Orońsko. The exhibition will run until 14 March 2021.

Curator: Jarosław Pajek

“An impulse is an excitement, a stimulus, a signal – a necessary condition for action, for change. Something that can break us out of our routine and lead us to an attentiveness that makes our choices more conscious. (…) For the sculptor, the collision of matter is a generator of meaning. One can speak of an attempt to measure oneself against nature, in an attempt to find a balance between creation and destruction”.

Balances exhibit

_______________

In the ZPAP Gallery in Gdańsku (ul. Mariacka 46/47) an exhibition of Danka Jarzyńska sculptures takes place entitled Balanse/ Balances.

MORE INFO

The balance explored in the works on display oscillates between process and effect, fragility and perfection, matter and that which transcends matter. Each sculpture also oscillates between other poles of opposites, such as interior-exterior, top-down, passivity-activity, female-male, solitude-community. They seek a golden mean, which has something utopian about it, like the human desire for harmony, but which we cannot (should not?) abandon.

Several of the sculptures in the ‘Balances’ series are inspired by the symbol of infinity. Its power is not only to evoke tranquillity and the promise of balance. It is also an association with eternity, permanence and the absence of limits. This mystical sign encourages finding one’s place in reality, including the use of one’s power in moderation. By working on my own sculptural interpretation of it, I invite you to travel into the depths and at the same time to experience intensely what is here and now.
