Danka Jarzyńska / sculpture

Danka Jarzyńska – sculptor, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland. Works mainly in classical sculptural materials (bronze, marble, granite), also creates ceramics and installations. She is among the handful of people in the world who create sculptures from black oak. She has exhibited in the Polish Sculpture Centre in Orońsko, in Paris, Bydgoszcz, Toruń, Druskininkai and many galleries in the Tricity.

She is the winner of the NanoArt109 International Competition organised by the Roi Doré Gallery in Paris. She was a distinguished participant of the YICCA competition in Milan in 2017/18. Her works are in private collections all over the world, including Italy, Germany, Norway, France, Mexico and the USA. The park sculpture ‘Structure of Blackness’ is in the collection of the Centre for Polish Sculpture in Oronsko and the stone sculpture ‘Trace’ is exhibited in the public space of Sobieszewo Island.

She lives and works on Sobieszewo Island and is an active member of the local community, working for the quality of its culture, environment and public space. She is the author of the project of the series of open-air sculpture meetings in Gdañsk – Sobieszewo Island and the organiser of its first edition under the motto “Island in Granite”, as well as the editor of the catalogue documenting and commenting on the event.As a curator, she also organised the exhibition “Transition” in the Sopot Art Passage Sopot Centrum (2018). Member of the Union of Polish Artists.
